Yes I have installed all updates both Apple and Microsoft. Problem persists. Yes its very frustrating. Productivity is being lost, time and money being wasted. Is there a real cure out there???

Well, copy/paste seems to work fine here, but I'm probably not doing the
same things you are:)

It's impossible to offer any suggestions if you can't repro the problem &
you can't repro the problem if you don't know what's triggering it... And
nobody has any more to go on than what you provide.

If you'd care to offer some details perhaps someone can help.

Part of the problem is that the error only happens intermittently. Although this error happens other ways, that is only very occasional.

The specific function where it happens most often is copying and pasting from one cell to the other in the same worksheet of the same workbook.

Sorry for not being more specific, i have seen people with similar posts, and this is one of the problems the last update was supposed to fix. I can post or eMail an error log if you could direct me on how to do that. Thank you very much for helping me troubleshoot this issue.

Side Note: This is a computer in my office (not mine), and seems to be the most severely affected. After my original post I set the auto save to one minute, and after crashing 10+ times this morning, it has been trouble free. If anyone else is having similar crashing problems I highly recommend changing Preferences > Saving >Autosave Interval to one minute!

Well,I'm not sure what to tell you about the issue you're experiencing. All
of the copy/paste issues I've seen involve copying from Excel & pasting or
pasting as a Link to *other* types of files - such as PPt & Word. Copy/paste
within the same sheet of the same file isn't the same thing. When's the last
time permissions were repaired on the affected system? It sounds like there
is something locally amiss there. I've been doing some experimental
copy/cut/paste trying to force the issue & haven't succeeded in doing so on
a G5 in Tiger or a MBP in Leopard.

What type of content is being copied? What are the system's specs?

BTW - There is no AutoSave feature in any Office program. What you're
referring to is called *AutoRecover Information* which is a totally
unrelated operation Go back into Prefs, point to it & read the description
that appears beneath it. Setting it for that frequency can cause other
performance issues - I'd suggest you set it back to 10 minutes.

Permissions are repaired every time Apple issues a software update. So last week, if I am not mistaken. The computer is a 20" Aluminum iMac Intel Core 2 Duo, with a fresh install of Microsoft Office '08. As I said before, all software Apple and Microsoft are the most current and updated to the latest.

I will most certainly take your advice and switch the AutoRecover back to 10 minutes as you no doubt have way more experience in this area. Played around with Numbers this afternoon, as it can import/export in Excel. Has anyone heard about this product good or bad?

Hi,

If you are sure you're Office version is 12.0.1, then could you please copy
and paste the crash log from the Microsoft Error Reporting application into
an email and email it to me ([email protected])? It would really help
us understand what's going on.

We did fix a crashing bug in 12.0.1 that would occur when copying data, so
please do verify your Office version.

Thanks,

Pat

Please comply with Patrick's request for the log - he & his folks have the
juice to analyze it:) On a more speculative note...

Imacs shipped with either 512 MB or 1 GB RAM. Unless that system has been
upgraded it's entirely possible that you're running into a memory problem.

Ok, here goes... I am sending the entire log for excel ONLY from this morning. For some reason there was no excel listed in the crash reporter. Saw something interesting in the log though...

Hopefully this will help...
