Excel Crashes when graphing attempted

I have a strange problem with Excel (latest version downloaded). If I
try to make a graph from a worksheet with only data on it, the program
crashes (I normally make only line graphs). On the other hand, if I
copy a graph from a previous file and then change the data, it works
fine.
Any suggestions?

Hi

After you install the current updates use Disk Utility to repair permissions
(OSX) or rebuild the desktop file and increase the preferred RAM setting (OS
9)
