Excel Crashing - all formating lost

Excel is randomly crashing.
The error codes listed in the Excel Error Report Contents identify our Dell
/ Intel CPU systems as follows:
CPU AMD Feature Code: 009FE824
Exception Information Code 0x0000036c
-and-
CPU AMD Feature Code: 00A1E804
Exception Information Code0xc0000005

Could Excel be attempting a CPU specific function (AMD -vs- Intel) which
results in the application crash?
