excel crashing for no apparent reason

Dave,

Usually there is an option to view the contents of the error report. That
information would be extremely helpful in determining the nature of the
problem you are experiencing.

dave!!

i wasn't sure which newsgroup to post this in, but i figured this was as
good as any thinking that some of you may have had a similar problem. i
have a file that's not absurdly large (6mb), and everytime i try to
add/delete a sheet, column or cell, excel crashes. i am running windows xp
with office xp. when it crashes, i get a message that says excel is
recovering your documents, and then it asks me if i want an error report
sent. i have had this happen before, but they were all isolated
occurrences. however, this is happening constantly with this file. i have
even tried copying the file and working with it in a different location.
does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?? thanks in advance for
any input.

i have viewed the error report, but it is all gibberish and code and means
absolutely nothing to me. not to mention it is hundreds upon hundreds of
lines of it.

Hi Dave!

You say you've tried it in a different location. I assume that this
means on a different computer.

In that case there must be something file specific.

You might try zipping the file (6MB!) and sending to me. I'll try with
a different operating system and different versions of Excel to see if
I can independently replicate the problem. (Don't I just love to crash
Excel <vbg>)
