Excel Crashing

When I am working on excel and i open another instance of excel, or I
open word, this causes the excel I was working on to crash and
dissapear without any warning. It just closes leaving no trace. When I
re open I get the auto recover files. I set the auto recover save to
every five minutes beacuse of this. This very often results in five
minutes worth of work, which can add up. This happens sometimes even
when i dont open a new excel or word. I can just happen randomly. One
thing that never happened is it crashing and dissapearing while I was
working directly on the spreadsheet. It only happens when working on
something else and having excel opened. Can someone please help me
with this?

I have the same problem. We have been upgrading to 2003 but have also been
moving over to Windows 2003 servers. One group of users have been on 2003 for
some time and are only now experiencing this with Excel. It also seems to be
machine dependent as the newer pcs are affected while the older model isn't,
I have seen comments on bloggs about video card drivers etc but haven't
isolated anything yet. I will be watching this item closely also.
