Excel dictionary

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel The word could not be added to the custom spelling dictionary. The word contains invalid characters.........

If I run a spell check in excel i always get this message...

Can anyone help.
