Excel "disappeared" from laptop....

Excel 2002 SP3
Win XP Pro SP2



All of a sudden, when I click on any shortcut to Excel, the Setup screen
pops up asking me to install it from the CD, etc.

What could be causing this?

Just what I needed in the middle of writing a presentation.....

I believe this was triggered by my attempt to insert an graphic object
into a Word Doc which may have contained links to Excel, etc.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried Help>Detect and Repair?

Have your CD handy.

If no joy with that step.......................

You could try Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs.

Scroll down to MS Office 202 and Change/Remove.

Select to make changes and Repair.

Make sure Excel is marked "Run from my computer".

You may have to have the CD handy.

Found the CD.
Stuck ii into the CD drive, rebooted, opened Excel. It looked for
whatever feature it needed and opened normally after that.

Thank God I DID have the CD available.

I guess not; what about if you are on a business trip, etc.? Or even
misplaced the CD?
