Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) I have a document that was originally created in Excel 2007 on windows. On Mac now with Excel 2008. It is password protected. When I open it now the following happens
I get a message that says (filename) is being modified by (blank) Open as read only or choose notify.
I select Notify.
File Reservation
(filename) is now available for editing Choose Read-write to open it for editing
I select Read-write
You have made changes to (filename) - I DID NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES
Another user has also made changes - THERE ARE NO OTHER USERS
What would you like to do.
- Discard your changes and edit the latest version - I SELECT THIS OPTION

I cannot get out of this loop. There is no one else using this file. I have not been able to make any changes to it. Not sure if it is a 2008 glitch or an issue with it being brought over from windows.
