excel does not shows colors or patterns in screen, but will print

I can't create or view spredsheets with color. The colors and patterns will
display in the print preview, but not in the worksheet screen. The video
drivers are up to date and no other issues seem to be notable. Is there a
way to fix? Is there a way to completely reset all of excels defaults?
