Since installing SP-2 for XP (home edition), every few days I get an error
popup after reaching the desktop. The error is "Excel has encountered a
problem and needs to close." The odd thing is that EXCEL is NOT in my
startup group, nor was I using EXCEL the previous time I booted the PC, nor
did I recently experience a crash in EXCEL itself.
Otherwise, the PC is working normally. EXCEL also works normally, whn
started manually.
I have Office 2003 with SP-1 for that Office. I have already tried the
"repair" feature of Office 2003. I have also tried searching the registry
for places that might start a program, such as run, runonce, etc, and found
nothing about EXCEL.EXE.
If anyone has experienced something similar, or knows the solution, I would
appreciate a response to this posting.
Thanks.
