Excel error

I have many linked excel 2003 spreadsheets saved on the network, and
everytime I run two specific files, I receive the following error:

"Excel cannot complete this task with available resources. Choose less data
or close other applications."

I haven't been able to run them locally either without the error coming up.
The hotfix or Office XP SP3 does not apply here as we are running 2003.

Please help!
