Have a mixed network of Novell 5.0 accessed by Windows
2000 Pro. Never any problems until recently, and only
with Excel files stored on the network.
I can open and modify a .xls file. When I save it with
the same file name, I get the error message "<filename>
could not be found. Check the spelling and verify the
location is correct. If you are trying to open from you
rlist of recently used files, make sure the file has not
been renamed, moved or deleted." Click OK and I
get "Document saved successfully. Cannot reopen the saved
document due to low memory. Please close the document."
If I close the document, leaving Excel open, I can reopen
the .xls file. If I close Excel and try to open the file
by double clicking, I get the error "<filename> could not
be found..." as specified in kb207574. I either have to
wait about a minute before I can open it again, or do a
Save As and rename the file.
This only started happening about the time we installed
the latest MS Security patch for Windows 2000, although
problems began with .xls files before that with what is
described in kb214032 . I have admin rights on the entire
netowrk, so that is not the issue. Everything I found in
the KB articles have not helped.
Any ideas?
