Excel ExportAsFixedFormat

NickP

Hi there,

I am using the ExportAsFixedFormat method of an Active Workbook via an
ATL C++ application. I specify the following filename, "c:\test.tmp" and
the function will save it as "c:\test.tmp.pdf".

This is not consistent behaviour as PowerPoint and Publisher do not add
the pdf extension onto the end of the filename.

Is there a way I can prevent Excel from adding the pdf extension?

TIA

Nick.

Hello Nick,

Publisher do not add
the pdf extension onto the end of the filename

From your post, my understanding on this issue is: you want to know how to
avoid adding the pdf extension onto the end of export filename when
ExportAsFixedFormat is called in Excel. If I'm off base, please feel free
to let me know.

The behavior of adding the pdf extension depends on the internal
implementation of ExportAsFixedFormat in Excel. I do not find any method or
parameter exposed from Excel which allows us to remove the extension. But a
possible workaround is to programmatically remove the file extension when
ExportAsFixedFormat is done. For instance,
rename("test.tmp.pdf", "test.tmp")

Please have a try and let me know the result. If you have any other
concerns, or need anything else, please feel free to tell me.

Sincerely,
Jialiang Ge ([email protected], remove 'online.')

Hi Jialiang,

Thanks for your suggestion, this was indeed the only way that I could
work around the problem and is what I ended up implementing, it works, but
it would make more sense if it didn't add the extension in the first place.

But anyways, it's not causing a problem at the moment, thanks greatly
for your time and help, it's much appreciated.

Nick.
