Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

used office 2004 and it always worked fine (for years) but over the last few months when i create an excel file and send to 2 different major companies, 90% of the time they can not read the file, they tell me it is jumbled.

used office 2004 and bought office 2008 to try to fix the problem but i still have the same issues. i save the files as EXCEL 97-2004 WORKBOOK (.xls)

any help would be great as i have to resend and resend many times, changing the file name till it works... dropping a letter ect.

Cases like this seem nearly always the fault of the receiver's email
system. However, it's also nearly always impossible to convince them of
this.

First, if they're trying to open the file directly from Outlook (or
whatever email client they're using), you might ask them to save the
file to their hard drive first. They should be doing that anyway, but
hardly anyone does so voluntarily.

You can try zipping/compressing the file before sending.

Failing that, post the file to an FTP site and have them download it.

If they can read either of those files, the porblem is on their end, not
yours.

Hi

You might wish to make an inquiry from the recipients as to what version
of Excel they are using.

Excel 2007/2008 does a very bad job displaying graphs made in earlier
versions of Office, either Mac or PC, IMHO. Find out if they are using
2007 or 2008 versions of Excel. If they are, then install office 2008
and format your graphs in 2008.
