Excel files are opening painfully slow - what's the problem?

When I double-click an Excel file from Windows exporer, it takes several
minutes for it to come up. I have Excel 2007. Any ideas?

do you by any chance have Book1 saved on the network drive?this problem
occurs when excel is trying to re-connect to a network drive...
