When I try file open or from the recent list, the same thing happens.
When I Do "get info" from the files directly, Excel says that the file
was last opened at exactly the time I tried to open it.
Interestingly, Word doesn't work anymore either (Entourage and Powerpoint
do work). When I try to open a Word doc it tells me that the file used
by another user (my Mac is standalone). Also, it tells me that it doesn't
find the normal template....
This happened all of the sudden. The only thing I changed recently was
that I installed "Silverkeeper" from LaCie and backed up my system. But
then, it worked for two weeks after the first backup and I can't see any
relation to this.

Also, when I try to open an Excel workbook it tells me that it cannot open or save any more docs because there is not enough available memory or disk space...
