Excel filters for documents shared between versions 2007 and 2003

Some of us in our department have Excel 2007, while others are still using
2003. We have a couple shared documents.

We have noticed that at times the filters will freeze for Excel 2003 users
on these shared workbooks. The user will select the fitler to change its
setting, and Excel will not respond; nothing will happen. This is what I mean
by "freeze."

Is there something we can do to keep this from happening? Is there something
that is being done by 2007 users or 2003 users that is causing this error?

Any help would be appreciated.
