excel font charset

Hi,
I'm using an external application to edit excel files.
This application doesn't support only one format(font) per
cell. When I have a cell with mupltiple languages I have
to use microsoft sans serif font. What is the apporiate
charset for that font when the cell contains multilanguage
string?
Can I use the default_charset flag?
