Excel for Mac 2004 Project locked and unviewable

I recently swithced to Mac and had developed a lot of files with VBA
projects, which I locked and password protected. When now opening it with
Mac Excel 2004 everything works, I can see the various modules in the project
under the Macros section in Excel, but I can not get into the project to
edit. The error message I receive is "Project locked project is unviewable".

The file is not a shared file as other web forums seemed to suggest that,
that would resolve the issue.

Does anybody have an idea what I could do?

XL03 has a number of new protection features. One feature is that
projects protected in XL03 cannot be opened in MacXL04. You can search
for methods to crack the protection (they're fairly well-known), or you
can re-save them in XL03 without protection.

Either way it's a real pain.
