Excel format cells for numbers only

I am using a series of four digit numbers for data entry in Microsoft
Excel. How do I set it up so it only
accepts numbers, but rejects letters?

for example, these would be allowed:
1234
4321

These would be rejected:
a234
aaaa
a2b4

Use Data Validation, decimal betwwen 1000 and 9999.
