Excel Formula bar scrunches

I'm running Excel from Office 2004 for the Mac. Fairly frequently, the
formula bar gets "scrunched up" so I can't read the bottom line if I have
more than one line. I can fix this temporarily by selecting VIEW>FORMULA
BAR, to turn it off, then I turn it on again. But the problem returns. I'm
not sure if it returns during a session, but it frequently returns when I
open Excel again. Any suggestions?

Best guess: a corrupt toolbar preference file. With XL closed, delete the

~:Library:preferences:Microsoft:Excel Toolbars (11)

file (where ~ is your home directory).

Thanks! That seems to have fixed it. However, the Excel Toolbars didn't seem
to come back. Is that a problem?

The Excel Toolbars (11) file will only be generated when you modify a
menu or toolbar, so there's no reason to worry.
