excel formula for time

I am trying to develop an excel based timesheet for my
company and I'm having trouble getting it to calculate
time accurately. i.e. in 10:00
out 12:30
come out as 2.3 hours how can i correct this? Please help

Hi Darrin,

The result should have been 2:30 which is correct if you
have not changed that cells format. If you want to display
the value as a decimal the formula would be:

=(out-in)*24 formatted as General = 2.5
