Need help with an excel formula.

Cell A1 is 10 an input
Cell B1 is 5 anther input
Cell C1 is 5 but a formula A1 - B1

I want to only analize variances that are greater than 25% of cell A1. I
can create this formula but only if C is a postiive number. If cell A1 is
less than B1 then I'd also like to see the variance if its outside of 25% but
can't get it to work if its a negative number. Any help would be appreciated

The following will always return à positive number. You can then check if it
is 25% of A1

=if(A1-B1 < 0,(A1-B1)*2+A1-B1,A1-B1)

Your formula will always tell you the difference between A1 and B1 no matter
what signs they have
A B C
9 3 6
3 9 -6

This formula will tell you by what % A differs from B
=(A1-B1)/B1 and format the cell percentage

And this will display the variance only when it is greater than 25%
IF(ABS((A1-B1)/B1>25%, (A1-B1)/B1,"")
