Excel Formulae copy not working

I just reloaded Office 2004 on a MacG4. When I copy an Excel formulae
- for example from cell C4 to cell D4.....it does not give me the total
for Column D4....instead the same number as shown in C4 appears. If I
go to the formulae bar and reenter any part of the equation for cell
D4....I then get the correct total for that column. I don't remember
having this problem before...any ideas?

Preferences/Calculation, click Automatic.
