Excel formulae

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

Am trying to fill down column D with the results of a formula, eg C2*5, C3*5, C4*5, etc; the number in column C is always variable

The first row gives the correct answer in cell D2 (ie C2*5=995)

Although the rest of the rows show the correct formula in the cells in column D, the answer is always the same as that in cell D2, ie 995

Help please!

It sounds like you have the sheet set for Manual recalculation - go to
Excel> Preferences - Calculation to change it.

If CyberTaz's suggestion doesn't help, there's always the head-slap
error: does your formula have "$" in it?

That is: if you type =c$2*5 in the first cell, then do FIllDown,
you'll get the absolute reference in every cell rather than the
relative ref.
