Excel freezes on selecting ALL in autofilter

I have created a spreadsheet with a formula in every cell
of two complete columns.

I wish to use Autofilter to view different items in the
non-calculated fields.

When I select an item I get a good display; however when
I select ALL to revert to the original display, Excel
stops responding and I have to abort it.

Is this a known problem? Any workarounds?

Thanks everybody -

I think the volume is the problem, complete columns are
pushing to the limit. More memory might easethe situation,
but..

Excel 2003 allows you to filter the data to another sheet
on the Advanced Filter Options. I'd try that.

If you have an earlier version then try Debra Dalgliesh's
site contextures.com and look at Advanced Filters. Tom
Ogilvy has written code to copy data to another sheet.

Thanks, Peter. I think you're right - there were formulae
in 2 entire columns and when I reduce this to just 100
rows the problem goes away.

This being the case, does anybody know of a way to copy
formulae to a new row when the current row has data
added? That way I won't have to keep on adding new blank
rows with the formulae in.
