Excel graph doesn't look the same in PPT

I am at my wits' end!!

I need to copy a graph that I have created in Excel into a PPT presentation.
The graph moderately transfers well into PPT. I still have to change font
size and such, only because I have to scale down the size of the graph.

My biggest problem is when I paste the graph into PPT the fill patterns
change! When I double-click on the chart to edit the graph in Excel, the
fill pattern is exactly as I had selected. The graph prints properly from
Excel, but looks very different in PPT. I've even tried moving the chart
into a new Excel workbook and inserting it as an object into PPT, but again,
the fill patterns change.

Please, help!

Hi,

What versions of Excel and PowerPoint are you using?

Try this:

In PowerPoint use Insert > Object > Microsoft Excel Chart

You should be able to paste your data and chart into the example chart.

I was originally using Office X. The university I work for allows me to
upgrade to Office 2004 for free, which I just did.

Funny you should mention Insert > Object > Microsoft Excel Chart ... I just
did that and the graph fills still don't look or print properly in PPT! I
completely built my Excel graph from Insert > Object > Create new > Microsoft
Excel Chart, and it still looks and prints wonky from PPT but looks and
prints perfectly from Excel.

I've also tried saving my graph from Excel as an image and PDF, but no
matter how high the resolution it looked terrible in PPT.

Any other suggestions? I really would appreciate any other tricks ... or
some setting I've overlooked changing?

Hi,

Well, there are a lot of ways to work with graphs in PowerPoint.

How about this....

In PowerPoint choose one of the slide formats that has a graph. For
example, from PowerPoint's menu choose Format > Slide Layout > Chart.

Paste the data from the Excel workbook into the spreadsheet-look grid.
Format the graph. Close and return to PowerPoint.

That really ought to work.

I tried doing that once before, but I just couldn't format the graph quite
the same as in Excel ... but now I found some ways to make the data represent
itself the same as my Excel sheet, just had to pull a few tricks

And there was much rejoicing in the office ...
