Excel graphs

Using a line graph i would like to show on one chart two data series
with differing ranges.

For example sereis one would be the unemployment rate in the US from
1998 to 2008 and series two would be the ending value of the S&P500
from 1998 to 2008. Obviously the unemployment rate will be in
percentages from 3% to 7% and the ending S&P500 values would be whole
numbers ranging from 800 or so to 1400 and back down to 800.

The reason i want to do this is to show the relationship between the
unemployment rate and the stock market.

Is this possible to do on one chart and is it possible in excel?

u may do it in several ways, the easiest one for two data series with very
different scaling (absolute and relative) is to use primary y-axis for first
series and secondary y-axis (riht-hand axis) for second series. Just right
click on particular series and choose format, then find where to redirect
y-axis (the way is slightly different in Excel2007 vs. 2003)

LOL @ "Obviously the unemployment rate will be in percentages from 3% to
7%" ... around here they are more like 11%. But that's another story.

Set up your chart with both series as lines. Double click the S&P series
(probably the only one you will be able to discern at this point) and
sift through the options to change it to reside on the secondary y-axis.
