Excel hangs upon exit

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Excel hangs upon exiting about a third of the time and I have to use a Force Quit to get out of it. As a new twist, Excel disappeared from my dock after the last force quit.

All software is current.

Anyone else with similar problems?

No offense Tom, but it's surprising how many posters claim to have "all
updates applied" only to find later that they're actually behind on OS X,
Office or both :) It's best if you specify what your present versions are.

The first suggestion I'd make is to repair disk permissions, shut down the
Mac & see if the condition persists once you reboot. It might not correct
the problem but it levels the playing field.

You might also do well to start up from your OS X maintenance/repair disk &
run the Disk Utility - Repair Disk procedure to make sure there is no
problem with the file structure.

Once everything checks out OK try running Excel from a different user
account to see what happens there if the problem continues in your primary
account. Reply back with your findings.
