Each time I attempt to open Excel 2007, immediately after displaying the
spreadsheet, I get the message "Excel has stopped working." followed by a
short "Searching for solutions..." box. Then the box appears indicating that
there is no solution but Microsoft will contact me when their is one.
I have now spent more than eight hours on the phone with techs in India
attempting to resolve this. Ultmately, after extensive checking, testing,
eliminating all other running programs, etc. they eliminate all Excel related
PIP files, and Excel begins to work. From one to two hours of operation later
I am treated again to the message, "Excel has stopped working."
I am using an HP m8299n AMD 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.00GHz with
3.00BG of RAM with 32 bit Vista with Service Pack 1.
Excel 2007 seemed to work well until I installed Service Pack 1. I have
completely uninstalled and reinstalled Office twice now and a Microsoft tech
cleaned out all residual registry and PIP entries before the last instalation
(done remotely by Microsoft Tech).
While the MS tech told me that this problem was from what he could determine
unique to me, I have found numerous reference to the same behavior on web
based discussions. I do not have the HP Bluetooth program in this computer.
Any help would be immensely appreaciated. I use Excel as the core
application to design portfolios and am semi-crippled without functionality.
