Excel highlight color

I feel like a complete idiot asking this, but I CAN NOT figure out how to
change the highlight color in Excel on my mac at home. I don't use the
program much at home and I have a PC at work, and I know it's somewhere, but
right now my excel highlights in a transparent pale color that I can't see.
I know it's somewhere, but it eludes me.

XL takes its highlight color from the System Preference.

Choose System Preferences/Appearance, and select a highlight color from
the dropdown. This change will be applied to all applications.

You'll need to close and reopen XL to see the change.
