Thanks to all of you who sent ideas on how to save Excel as Excel without it
opening in MacLinkPlus, but it still opens in MacLinkPlus. The file is saving
as .xls. The file still saves with a black border around it. It was suggested
that the .xls files are not properly registerd in the system cache. When I go
to the system cache there are no Excel folders/files/whatevers in it. So I
opened an Excel worksheet, went to preferences and tried lots of different
things there, but nothing worked, still got black border/line around icon,
stills saved as .xls but still opened in MacLinkPlus. The text MacLink gave
me was....This is a Macintosh spreadsheet. If you don't have the spreadsheet
application that created it, you can translate it into a different format, using
MacLinkPlus. Once translated, the file will retain its formatting (e.g., bold,
italics, etc) as well as the formulas. Also, it will look and behave as if it were
originally created in this new format. You can then edit, save, and translate
it back into its original format if you need to.
MacLinkPlus can convert files form Mac format to PC format, PC to Mac, and
between different Mac formats....
I'm ready to throw out Panther, OfficeX and the computer, can anybody give
me specific instructions on how to fix this problem? Help, Help, Help
