Go to Excel's Preferences, General Tab, and clear any value in "At Start up
Open files in".

What happens with file Open? Did you save the file as a workspace and may
be opening that instead?

my configuation is that the imac is within a local office ethernt. But no other computer from this local net is on.
All the files which are opened additionally when I open one excel file were only used on that imac.
All my excel file are stored on the imac hard disk as a normal excel file. When I try to open one excel file ether it will start the program or if the program is still running it will open the document I have selected. But within this opening process or excel is opening further normal excel documents (mostly which I had opened today or the last days).
I open the documents ith double klick. All the documents have the extension .xls; that means up to now I did not found any .sxls - but I have only les of these.
Thanks for your help
