Excel keeps crashing on startup

Everytime I launch Excel v.X, it just crashes on me. It doesn¹t even make it
to the splash screen. However, Word, Entourage, and PowerPoint still work
(³knock on wood²).

This started happening when I transferred all my settings and files from my
iBook to the G5 using the new system migration utility that¹s included w/new
G5¹s. It¹s not working on both systems now.

I¹ve repaired permissions, but I guess that had nothing to do w/it cause
that didn¹t fix the problem.

Thanks in advance,
Phil

I don't know what the G5 system migration utility does, though in
general I've found that swapping settings sometimes doesn't work
(especially if you swapped the Carbon Registration Database).

As a first step I'd try renaming the ~:Library:preferences:Microsoft
folder (with all Office apps closed), then start XL - if it starts up,
try adding settings back until you find the one that crashes.

I've tried that and it didn't work. Anyone else?

If you've tried renaming the preferences file and it didn't work, it's
not a settings problem. The next step would be to run the Remove Office
application (in the Value Pack folder of the install disk, and reinstall
Office, including all the updaters.
