Excel keeps taking me back to A1 !!!!!!!!!!!

A

Alphanitrate

When working I will copy a cell the the view shifts from there back to
A1. How do i make the view stay focused on the area of the sheet i am
working on?

Laptop? - stay away from the touchpad :)

If that isn't it, more information is needed in order to hazard a guess.

Hmmm...

As Bob wrote, more information (other than that you're having the
problem too) is needed in order to hazard a guess.

Did you ever get help on this?? I have had the same problem and it is
SERIOUSLY frustrating!!! Thanks!

I go down to cell...say K121 (it can be ANY cell), choose the cell, go
to type and the screen jumps up to the A1 row while you are typing in
cell K121. It shows what you are typing in the formula bar, but it's a
real pain to keep going back down to the row you are working on to see
what it looks like or to go to another cell. Thanks!!

I can't reproduce this. When you select K121, do you see the standard
outline around the cell, or the "marching ants" border?

Does it happen if you start XL with the shift key down?

Do you have any haxies running on your system?

No ants, looks "normal".

Doesn't make a difference w/shift key upon opening program.

Haxies??

Haxies is a general term for any software installed on your system which
may alter its behavior. If you click on the blue Apple and go to System
Preferences, is there anything under "Other?"

Also, do you see this jumpy cursor behavior in any other application?
Are you using a desktop (iMac, Mac Pro, PowerMac) or a laptop (MacBook,
MacBook Pro, iBook, PowerBook?) If it's a laptop, I think JE and Bob may
be wondering if it's a Mac OS issue, or an issue with the touchpad....

When you write back, let us know what kind of computer you're running,
and what version of Excel and the Mac operating system.

OK... Under the "Other" all I have is Adobe Version Cue (which I
wouldn't think would make any difference with this problem).

I don't see this happen in any program other than Excel.

I am using a desktop, Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5, running Mac OS-X 10.4.8. I
am currently using the Excel 2004 for Mac, ver. 11.3.3. I have had this
problem, though, since many, many versions ago!

Thanks!

Probably because nobody else can reproduce it.

I don't see anything on a quick Google search for Version Cue, but I
would probably try uninstalling that to see if XL performance were
affected.

Other than that, I can't think of *anything* that would cause that
behavior that wouldn't have been disabled by starting up with macros
disabled, or that you haven't already checked. Especially since you've
seen it through "many, many versions".

I almost never recommend this, but the last resort is always to remove
Office (using the Remove Office application on your install disk), and
reinstall Office and updates.
