Excel links

I have a spreadsheet with links to external files that I o
longer need. When the file opens it complains that the
links are not valid and ask if I want to browse for the
files. I'd like to remove the links to the files, but I
can seem to find if there are any cells referencing this
external file. How do I remove these links.

Ray,

One way would be to search the workbook for the ! character.
Another option would be to download Bill Manville's "Link Finder".

Another way is to first go to EDIT>LINKS and then change links. When it asks
where you want to change them to, choose the file you are in. In many cases
that will keep it from looking elsewhere and it will eliminate some hidden
links.
