Excel locks up when the drawing tool is selected

When the user selects the drawing tool Excel locks up. I reinstalled
Office for Mac 2004 and tried the drawing tool before I reinstalled
the updates. The problem was still there. The drawing tool in Word
works fine. Any advice on how I can fix this?

Is this a typo? OS X is at 10.4.8 - If you're not there yet that could be a
contributing (if not causative) factor. Do this first if need be & then run
Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions.

Of course it was still there - reinstalling Office [and most other Mac apps]
typically doesn't fix anything because what gets reinstalled is rarely what
was broken in the first place... that's not how Macs work The major app
files are Read Only, so they rarely go bad barring disk failure. In fact it
may even cause worsening of a situation & possibly cause other problems.

The drawing tool in Word
works fine. Any advice on how I can fix this?

The OS update may resolve the problem allong with the permissions issue,
Otherwise...

After updating the OS as above reapply the Office 11.3.3 update followed by
11.3.4, then repair permissions again. If it still isn't right, post back
with details.
