Excel log file

I have written a VBA routine that uses DDERequest and DDEPoke to interface with proprietary software owned by my company. When originally built in a standalone workbook, everything worked great. When the code was added to a much larger workbook that was being used to interface with other software products, certain parts of the code would cause Excel to shut down. The offending lines of code were being used to poke alphanumeric data into the proprietary software. All other lines of code that poked strictly numeric data continued to function normally. At any rate, when Excel shuts down, it issues a message that a log file is being written. I have never been able to locate this log file, even in the default Excel directory. Does anyone know what the name of this file would be and where to look for it?
