Excel Memory Error in NT and 2000

I've got several Excel 97 macros that have the same error occurring when they are run.

"The instruction at "0x651b41d3" referenced at "0x0000004c". The memory could not be "read".

The macro references the Microsoft Office 8.0 Object Library dll but when I reference the Microsoft Office 9.0 Object LIbrary dll they seem to work. Any ideas as to why I'd be having this problem and what the fix would be?
