Excel menu issue after installing Leopard & MS updates

Help! Last night I installed some old MS updates and suddenly the
"File" menu in Excel no longer appears. My menu reading says Excel -
Edit - View, etc. vs. Excel - FILE - Edit - View. I was working alot
in Excel - so who knows - maybe my hand slipped and I did something
weird. At any rate the FILE menu no longer appears.

Can anyone help me?

First suggestion would be to go to Tools> Customize> Customize
Toolbars/Menus - Toolbars tab. Click on the *name* of the Worksheet Menu
Bar, then click Reset. If that doesn't restore it or if the restoration is
only temporary post back.

I'm also curious about "I installed some old MS updates" - what exactly does
this mean & what prompted you to do so?
