Excel missing lines on Mac

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

I have a document that is missing lines when I print. The lines are in the document and even appear in the print preview but do not show up when printed. These are not gridlines (I checked and unchecked those), but borders and other lines drawn in.
This has happened with other documents before when they are started on a PC. This specific document was started on a PC, but was actually transfered from another Mac. The file was transfered from the 2008 version of Excel (mine is 2004), could that be the problem?
What gives??

The first thing to check is that your printer is set to print at its highest
resolution. If it isn't it may be missing lines that are fairly fine.

If that isn't the problem check the mfr's web site to see if there is an
updated driver for the printer.

Are Office (11.5.5) and OS X (10.4.11) fully updated on your system?

If the lines display in Print Preview it means that they are being sent from
Excel ‹ Print Preview is actually echoed back based on the driver software.

Also, check all of your other print settings in the Print dialog [although
there really aren't any that should cause the problem]. Is either Black &
White or Draft Quality selected in Page Setup?

Generally Excel works fine, PC any version to Mac any version, and
vice-versa.

But you do get these "edge" cases, because Excel 2004 converts incoming
graphic objects to the Mac graphics formats.

The conversion is not "exact" an very fine lines, or lines in colours Mac
Excel does not support, can get lost. That, I suspect, is what is going on
:)

After you have double-checked the things Bob is suggesting, you might look
at your line-weights, line colours, and your print area. Chances are, if
you change those line weights by as little as a tenth of a millimetre, they
will burst back into life.

Your reference to "drawn" lines also makes me wonder: there are some things
Excel 2008 can put into a file that Office 2004 just doesn't know about.
And some things that simply will not gracefully downgrade to the XLS format.

What happens when you try this file in .XLSX format?

What happens if you attempt to create the same graphics objects in a fresh
blank spreadsheet?

Hope this helps
