I.C.Park
Version: Excel 2003 (11.5621.5606)
Goal: to enter Excel cells rapidly even if there's a hyperlink in that cell.
Suggested solution: Create a setup toggle in Excel which give use the
ability to turn hyperlinks to active/inactive. This might be made to act
like Word within Outlook where the Control key is required to actively follow
hyperlinks in email.
Details:
I copy content from web sites and organize content in Excel for printing and
future reference.
Unfortunately, while working and formating within the worksheet, I'm
constantly activating the links. The new Internet Explorer windows is opened
each time, removing me from my current Excel work window.
A hyperlink(s) can be DE-activated permantly by the following acrcane
procedure:
- Type the number 1 in a blank cell, and right-click the cell.
- Copy
- Paste Special to the hyperlink cells
- Under Operation, click Multiply and then click OK.

But what if I want to RETAIN hyperlinks for future, but just don't want them
active this session? My development work will be most efficient if I do not
to have to make that pause while Excel realizes that I do not wish to follow
the link. Outlook with Word as the editor DOES NOT automatically follow
hyperlinks. I'm requesting the ability to have the same functionality
