but find it a little hard to beleive.  Go into
safemode and start excel.  Under help and in
the about dialog there is a button for enabling/disabling
the modules.  Check to see the state of excel
in there.

what you might want to do is to do a repair of the
o.s. via your windows setup cd.  If there are
unrecognizable/uncompatiable or corrupted
drivers, the cd will replace them.

or you might want to test your system
with openoffice which has an excel
compatiable spreadsheet module.

also, eventhough google is an excellent
search engine, the real expert data on
ms excel is found at microsoft.com
search for something like "troubleshooting excel"
