Excel Noob

Hi all!

I'm very new to Excel and all it's possibilities. I'm comfortable wit
the Windows OS, Word and Outlook but quite clueless when it comes t
Excel things. I've done most of the "Excel 2010 for dummies" book but i
doesn't seem to go in depth enough for what I'm trying to do.

We have 30 employees and I have been given an Excel file to work with
It has the days of the month and the names of the employees on 1
sheets, then a summary page with Name, Dept, Hire date, Today's date,
of days employed, Vacation accrual hours/day, hours accrued, total hour
taken as of Dec 31 09, Total hours taken in 2010, Total hours taken i
2011, total hours taken as of (today's date), hours balance, hourl
rate, Value of Vacation and annual Salary.

I'm supposed to make a simpler easy to work with file and I'm quit
overwhelmed with the whole thing. I can make a pivot table out of th
summary page but not out of the monthly pages.

It's hard to picture, but does anyone know of ways I can make it mor
user-friendly? Also I'm not sure why I can't make the monthly pages i
to pivot tables.

Thank you in advance!

You could make a backup copy and use find and replace to change eac
name to something different... Change Spencer Davis to Name 1 and Samm
Davis to Name 2 etc.

Might take a while depending on how many names there are in you
workbook, but might be the difference between you getting the help yo
need and not.

I can't upload it to this site in the Excel format and it's too big whe
in PDF and in .txt I'd have to save and upload all 13 pages, too man
for the site.

Holy CRAP this is frustrating. I PM'd you for that email address

Yeah this forum is frustrating when it comes to file restrictions.
But I'm sure there are reasons behind it.

Email address sent back to you by PM
