Excel not calculating properly

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have a spreadsheet which adds a % to a value. To the right there is a formula that takes the first cell and divides by 12 (to get a monthly value)

I have edited the original column with the % in and changed the value. The formula to the right which divides by 12 does not update. I have checked that auto recalc is on, it is. I have turned if off and back on and tried Cmd+= to force a recalc - nothing happens.

The only way I can get the cell to update is to manually go to the cell and edit it and press return - it then returns the correct value.

I have tried the same spreadsheet on another Mac (imac) running MS Office 2008 and it works fine. A version on Windows XP running Office 2003, the same spreadsheet works fine.

Please help, I am very worried that Excel does not appear to be calculating the correct values even though auto recalc is on, when cells are updated.

Both Macs are running Leopard 10.5.7 and Excel 12.1.7

Check and insure that the cell containing the formula is not formatted as
text.

Always post your formula, the input values, the expected result and what you
gt instead
