Excel Office 2007 and maximum rows

I am considering buying a new laptop with Windows 7. It comes with an
included copy of "Home and Student" Office 2007 which includes Excel. My
older Excel (2002) cannot handle more than 65,000 rows. Is it true that the
newer Excel can handle more rows within the same spreadsheet? If so, is that
done transparently?

I don't know what you mean by "transparently" but it has over one million
rows. HTH Otto
