Excel Open (Look in box ) Not Responding

I am using Excel 2002 Pro and Windows XP. Recently when I attempt to open a
file, if I use the dropdown box to select a network drive I get a (Not
Responding) msg which last for 15-20 seconds then finally drops down with my
choices. If I pick a folder within that the same pattern continues until I
reach the file I'm looking to open. I have the same issue in Word. I had
the same issue 2 - months ago and detect & repair did nothing to fix the
problem. I do not want to be without my computer again any suggestions would
be welcome.
