I have an excel file taht cannot be open on a computer
with WinXp Os and Excel 97 SR2 while enable its macro.
However, I can open this file on other computers with the
same OS and Excel ver. Also I have reported this problem
to Microsoft. Where could I check the reply of Microsoft?
Please tell me why this problem occur. Thanks.

If you can open the file on other computers having the same OS and Excel
version why would you think it is a Microsoft-generated problem?

Microsoft does not monitor this News Group so I doubt you will get a reply
from them.

If I read you correctly, the file won't open when you enable macros. Is this
right?

Will it open with macros disabled?

What happens when you try to open it with macros enabled? Error message(s)?

Thanks for your reply.

Yes the file can be open when disabled the macro. But
there is no error message for the opening problem. It just
pop up a window for sending an error report to Microsoft.
Either I clicked "send report" or "Don' t send", the excel
application will close automatically.

I don' t know what is the reason of this error. Would it
be an error caused by the settings, driver corrupted, etc.

Thanks

Have you read the report that is genereated when this happens? Is this file on
your HD or a network?

Have you emptied your Temp directories of all files and folders then rebooted?

I had tried to open the file both on HD and network. Also
I read the report, but the report is just some massages
about the system and machine code. I don' t understand
what the report mean.

But I have not emptied my Temp directories of all files
and folders then rebooted. Why need to do this? Is it
helpful for me to open the file?

Thanks for you reply.
