Excel opens on a cell and stops running

My config: Home network with oneWin2000 PC with Excel 2000
and one ME PC which holds all documents folder.
My problem: when I want to open on the W2K PC an xls from
the ME, Excel opens a sheet with ONE cell covering the
whole windows and stops running, cursor blocked. This
happens with a lot of xls and with random cells. Is that a
problem due to the network or the Excel.
Would really appreciate some help.
