Excel PC/MAC problem

Hello,

Whe have an excel file that is on a windows 2000 server.

- When we open the file on a Mac OS X computer (Tiger 10.4.1) with
Excel 2004 (11.1.1), then on a Windows XP SP2 computer with Excel 2003.
We get the following error message: Cannot Access 'file.xls'.

- If we open it on the PC first and then on the MAC, we get the file in
read only on the OS X computer.

Is there a way to fix this problem? So that the Windows user is able
to open it in read-only.

Thanks,
FP

Hi,

There are two alternatives.

One is to go to Excel's TOOLS menu and turn on the share workbook
feature. That lets more than one person at a time open and work on the
spreadsheet at a time.

The other is to install DAVE from Thursby. http://www.thursby.com/ DAVE
has better interoperability cross-platform than Windows and MacOS by
themselves.
